This trip starts at the Getaway Jungle Camp, Sattal,
through to Bhowali and the Kainchi temple. This trip
stays more to the less used trails and we pass through
some really well kept villages and some astounding views
of the Himalayan Ranges.
We visit places like Ramgarh, Mukteshwar, Almora and
Binsar. The terrain ranges from pine forests to dense
oak forests and from the high ridge tops to the lower
river valleys. The majestic Deodars at the Jageshwar
temple is a great sight to see.
Day 1
Arrival at the Getaway Jungle Camp,
a 800m walk gets you to the Camp and the dense jungle
and abundant wild life here makes it an ideal starting
ground for what's ahead. The day is spent walking in
the forest and visiting the nearby village to see the
local art and crafts. The evening is ideally spent in
the Machan to see some of the passing birds and animals
as they come to drink at the spring.
Day 2
After an early breakfast we drive up to Bhowali
and our walk starts to Kainchi temple. After paying
homage at the temple we head up into the Ramgarh
stream and end up in talla Ramgarh, we have an
option for the accommodation out here we can either
camp by the stream or use the Ramgarh bungalows
, made up tastefully in Victorian style. A total
walking time of 5 to 6 hours.

into the Mukteshwar ridge, and
the views are simply amazing. Today we camp at

Day 04
We trek from Mukteshwar to Sitla
a 3-hour gradual walk down hill among the best forest
of the Kumaon a mixed forest with blue pine, deodars,
and various species of oak, firs and many others. This
place is also a bird watchers paradise, the views are
great too.
Day 05
From Sitla it’s a 4 to 5 hours
walk to Almora on the way we cross
the Kosi river, the forests are more pine. A short jeep
ride is on the cards to avoid walking the last 3-km
on the tarmac road, a trip into the ancient market of
Almora, then off to our campsite at Kasar Devi,
which provides great views.
Day 06
Kasar Devi to Binsar
top is about a 3 to 4 hour walk and is partly in the
Binsar Sanctuary and abounds in all sorts of wild
life. The thick covering of oak and the great Himalayan
range makes this walk a great one. We have an option
to camp or to use the KMVN guesthouse.
Day 07
Binsar to the Sacred Temple of Jageshwor
will take about 4 to 5 hours of mostly gradual downhill
walk, amidst some of the best forest in the area.
